Accommodations: To be determined by the teacher based on student needs |
| Procedures |
Introductory Activity (Warm-Up): Using the Multimedia computer and TV, model how to open an Excel spreadsheet and create a new table. Create the title "Types of Pets". Elicit responses from students regarding types and numbers of pets they have. Create headings with pet types. Gather and fill in data under headings from student responses. Fill title cells with color and format cells with borders. |
Lesson: The students will create their own table in Excel to keep track of ways they count with large numbers. The students should create four different headings: Starting Number, Count By, Times Counted, Ending Number (see Different Ways to Count sample template)The students will find 3 different numbers they could count by from the "Starting Number" to the "Ending Number".
|
Reteach: To be determined by the teacher based on student needs
|
Extension: Assign the students a similar problem, but don't allow them to use 2, 5, 10, or multiples of ten.
Have students create and solve their own problems.
Have the students change font colors, styles, sizes, and justification. Add color to cells, and have students add borders to their tables.
