Unit/Lesson Overview: Students begin this lesson with an election Rivet activity which could be modified for other units of study.
Students will research and respond to four different questions:
Why is it an important civic responsiblity to vote?
What qualities would you look for in a leader?
Which Texans were Presidents of the United States?
Who are some Texans who became national leaders? Students will create a Publisher game brochure called Let's Elect a Leader! 3 Truths and 1 Falsehood based upon their research results. They will identify the falsehood in others' brochures. [This activity is one that could be modified for other subject areas also.]
