Gonzalo Gonzalez, Math Teacher
Roosevelt High School
"After growing up in Laredo and attending Texas A&M Kingsville, I knew I wanted to have the opportunity to teach as I have always had the ability to connect with people. Now that the stimulus funds have been provided to NEISD, I will be able to apply my discovery method of teaching with all my math students at Roosevelt High School. I look forward to helping my students develop into true problem-solvers."
In order to reach NEISD’s goal of improving student achievement for all students, the additional stimulus funded math and science teachers at Lee and Roosevelt High Schools will provide much needed support to institute rigorous post-secondary standards and high quality assessments. These supplemental teacher positions will allow class sizes to be lowered so that individual student needs will be met more effectively. Additionally, with the attention towards more individualized student needs, focused tutoring and mentoring opportunities will be maximized during the school day.
Derek Clark, Science Teacher
Roosevelt High School

meaningful relationships with the Roosevelt students while helping them reach their academice potential, become lifelong learners, and make positive contributions
to the community."
